I started writing the second book in the Boogie Beach series, and hit a wall. The lockdown, the unfolding pandemic, and the stress of trying to be safe while living in a country that couldn’t seem to put on a mask left me too stressed to work.
So the book dragged on. And on. Normally I can get a 60,000 word story cranked out in a few months, but not this one, at least, not during the weirdest year of my life. But in January of 2021, I finished, Yesterday I completed the edit. Now I’ve got a fast paced, funny contemporary fantasy ready to go to my editor for polishing and it feels like I just typed “The End” on 2020.
So for 2021, I’m rooted in perseverance, and in hope. Time to write Book 3.
Winnie Winkle is a fabulous Central Florida broad who swills bourbon, likes dogs and cats, and practices yoga, but not with any degree of grace. Supporting live local music is a pretty big deal to Winnie, so if you pass a gravestone that admonishes, 'Go see the band and hit the tip jar', it's probably hers. But, since she's not dead yet, she'll keep penning fun stuff to rock your reading chair
A 30 year Florida resident, she splits her time between Daytona Beach Shores, Tallahassee, and the Mount Dora areas. She prefers writing beach-side as much as she can because, if we’re baring our souls here, the ocean is a mighty muse and one can only expect so much from coffee.
Winnie is most active on Facebook, so come say hello!
